Hello and welcome! My name is Noah and I am currently a 3rd year PhD student in philosophy at Emory . I am mainly interested in social epistemology, feminist philosophy, philosophy of race and philosophy of education.
This blog initially started out as an attempt to tie philosophy back to my everyday life. I used philosophical concepts to explain the workings of social problems like racism, sexism and transphobia to myself and my friends. As a person subjected to these and other forms of oppression, I am always eager to raise awareness about them both inside and outside of the academy. All original posts from this time can still be found in the Archive.
Now, I want to use this blog as a space for me to reflect on my time in grad school, with a special focus on my experiences with teaching. I have found my calling in being an educator and am highly committed to creating welcoming and enriching learning environments for my students. I aim to „update“ the philosophy classroom and want to see how well (or not!) digitals tools can integrated. What better way to explore this than by trial and error! Throughout my time teaching I have collected valuable advice from my professors. You can my collection of teaching advice here!
As someone facing plenty of restrictions, both external and self-imposed, I regard this as my little sanctuary, my space of freedom. For this matter, nothing on here is written with academic standards in mind. The blog just is what it is.
